The strainer itself is made from stainless steel and uses a 1/2″ barb x quad port 90 deg design. Its 40 mesh build slots it into the fine category, compared to a 20 mesh build which is considered course. Inspecting the strainer is easy thanks to its transparent housing. If you do see something clogging the strainer, you merely screw off the top and give it a quick clean or dirt removal.
