The Fire Magic burner heat shield kit is designed to prevent control panel damage in the event of “back-flaming”. It is included on all newer Echelon and Aurora models, this item is a replacement/retrofit for all pre-2011 Echelon and Aurora that have an “E” burner.
Back-flaming occurs when the burner ports clog from a lack of cleaning. Check your owner’s manual for detailed burner cleaning instructions.
